Description

Under direction, to perform professional legal work in the Office of the District Attorney. There are four levels of Attorney in the District Attorney’s Office. Candidates who are referred for an interview will be assessed as to the appropriate level, if a job offer is made.

Attorney I requires active membership in the California State Bar upon appointment.

The salary for Attorney I is $61.93 – $65.04 hourly, $4,954.72 – $5,203.20 biweekly, $10,735.23 – $11,273.60 monthly, and $128,822.72 – $135,283.20 annually.

Attorney II requires active membership in the California State Bar upon appointment, and one year of experience as an Attorney I with Santa Clara County, or two years of experience in the full time practice of law in a government agency or in private practice.

The salary for Attorney II is $72.63 – $78.89 hourly, $5,810.00 – $6,310.88 biweekly, $12,588.33 – $13,673.57 monthly, and $151,060.00 – $164,082.88 annually.

Attorney III requires active membership in the California State Bar upon appointment, and two years of experience as an Attorney II with Santa Clara County, or four years of experience in the full time practice of law in a government agency or in private practice.

The salary for Attorney III is $86.78 – $95.67 hourly, $6,942.48 – $7,653.84 biweekly, $15,042.04 – $16,583.32 monthly, and $180,504.48 – $198,999.84 annually.

Attorney IV requires active membership in the California State Bar upon appointment, and two years of experience as an Attorney III with Santa Clara County, or six years of experience in the full time practice of law in a government agency or in private practice.

The salary for Attorney IV is $105.50 – $131.32 hourly, $8,440.08 – $10,505.20 biweekly, $18,286.84 – $22,761.27 monthly, and $219,442.08 – $273,135.20 annually.

Eligible candidates must pass a background investigation to qualify for employment.

* Experience as an attorney in a District Attorney’s Office in another public agency may be considered equivalent for appointment or promotion in the corresponding District Attorney’s Office in the County of Santa Clara.
