Under the supervision of the Prosecuting Attorney and Chief Assistant Prosecutor, the Assistant Prosecutor reviews requests for warrants, determines appropriate charges and initiates criminal cases; presents misdemeanor and felony criminal cases in the district and circuit courts; may also be assigned probate court cases, paternity/support matters, and appeals; attempts to resolve and dispose of cases before trial; advises law enforcement and assists with other matters as assigned.
Assistant Prosecuting attorneys are involved in immediate courtroom litigation and trial experience. Accommodations can be made for some remote work.
