2023 Wrapped

Happy New Year from the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys! As we kick off 2024, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on last year’s accomplishments.

Over the past year, we have helped more than 10,000 prosecutors and justice professionals in every state throughout the country create safer communities through a more just and equitable legal system.

To sum up our efforts from the past year:

  • We served as a global form of ideas and collaboration. Through APA councils and committees, we brought together district attorneys, academics, subject matter experts and individuals impacted by the justice system to collaborate on new prosecutorial strategies that create safe communities through a more just and equitable legal system.

  • We helped prosecutors better serve everyone in their communities by working across disciplines and striving to elevate the voices of victims, survivors, formerly incarcerated individuals, and others with lived experiences through meaningful community engagement.

  • We elevated model prosecutorial practices by partnering with researchers to co-design, pilot, and help implement innovative prosecutorial practices that support community safety and a more just and equitable justice system.

  • We provided training and resources to more than 10,000 prosecutors and justice partners.

  • We advocated for prosecutors on emerging issues related to the administration of justice and fostered interdisciplinary collaboration.

While we appreciate the impact of these efforts, we recognize the significant work ahead as the field of prosecution continues to face new challenges and opportunities—from threats to prosecutorial independence to addressing structural inequities.

We thank you for your partnership over the past year and look forward to another year of working together towards a more just and equitable legal system.
