Subject Matter Expert Database Application

Join APA’s Subject Matter Expert Community

The Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (APA) is excited to welcome passionate professionals into our growing network of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). If you have specialized knowledge in prosecution, criminal law & policy, or related fields, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

What Is the SME Database?
APA’s SME Database is a curated directory of trusted experts who can be called upon to support prosecutors nationwide. This resource helps us quickly connect practitioners with specialized knowledge to opportunities such as training, technical assistance, and collaborative projects.

What Could This Involve?
As an SME, you may be invited to:

  • Travel to conferences and events to lecture or lead sessions.
  • Teach webinars and virtual trainings for prosecutors and justice professionals.
  • Consult directly with prosecution teams on specialized topics.
  • Contribute to publications, policy development, and model practices that shape the future of prosecution.

What You Should Know

  • Selection Process: Applications are carefully reviewed to ensure candidates meet APA’s standards for expertise. Submission does not guarantee inclusion.
  • Uncompensated Role: SME participation is voluntary and not a paid position. Selected experts may be invited to contribute to training, technical assistance, and thought leadership opportunities. If requested to travel to a conference or other in-person event, APA will cover travel and lodging costs for our SMEs at the federal rate.
