Overview

Women denied abortion care due to restrictive abortion laws and policies face prolonged economic hardship. Women denied a wanted abortion who have to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term have four times greater odds of living below the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). Women’s participation and promotion in the workforce are jeopardized when denied access to reproductive health services. This results in economic harm to affected individuals as well as to state and regional economies.
