Advancing Prosecutorial Innovation Through Data and Technology

The Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (APA) is at the forefront of integrating data and technology into prosecutorial practice. Through research, convenings, and strategic partnerships, APA empowers prosecutors to make informed, effective, and efficient decisions.

APA’s flagship initiative in this space is the National Prosecutorial Data Summit, now in its third year. The 2025 summit, held in Dallas, Texas, focused on the transformative role of artificial intelligence and advanced analytics in enhancing case flow and office operations. Prosecutors, researchers, and technologists gathered to explore innovations in data storytelling, causal research, and smart prosecution strategies. Read more about this event on our blog, and sign up to be the first to hear about 2026's Data Summit by subscribing to our emailing list here.

APA also collaborates with jurisdictions and research partners to develop data dashboards that promote transparency and accountability. These tools help offices visualize trends, track outcomes, and evaluate the impact of prosecutorial policies.

Beyond convenings and dashboards, APA supports research and grant development around prosecutorial technology, including causal studies on screening processes and decision-making efficiency. These efforts reflect APA’s commitment to building capacity for responsible, evidence-based innovation in prosecution.
