SURVEY: APA Seeking Input on Survivor Centered Diversion

APA is leading a national Survivor Centered Diversion initiative funded by the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. Women charged with a crime are overwhelmingly survivors of violence and face significant unmet needs and legal issues that affect every aspect of their lives. Given the trauma and barriers that come from facing criminal charges and their victimization, survivors often are unable to access even limited traditional resources.

APA has developed a short survey of the field to gather information on current survivor centered diversion practices. The goal of this survey is to learn about what resources exist to provide diversion, services, and a pathway to healing for survivors of gender-based violence. We also aim to learn about the considerations for offices that are not diverting and if there may be interest in implementing survivor centered diversion in the future. Information collected through this survey will aid in developing model diversion programs to support survivor centered diversion.

This survey should take approximately 5 minutes to complete. All survey responses will be kept confidential and no directly identifying information will be published. Please complete this survey no later than March 15th, 2023. If you have any questions or comments, please contact Aviva Kurash at

Thank you for your participation.
