The Association of Prosecuting Attorneys (APA), in partnership with the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the Center for Court Innovation (CCI), will host the 9th National Prosecution Summit: Innovative Prosecution and Community Safety from September 22-24, 2014 in Dallas, TX. Feds announce $3 million in grants, funding for prosecutors to address violence against women

FARGO, North Dakota — Federal authorities are providing $3 million in grants to address violence against women in rural and tribal communities in the oil patch of North Dakota and Montana. The money from the Office on Violence Against Women will be used to help provide services to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and stalking.

Governor Signs DA-Sponsored Human-Trafficking Bill

RIVERSIDE — A human-trafficking bill recently signed by Gov. Jerry Brown will streamline prosecutions, save taxpayer dollars and reduce trauma to victims appearing in court, officials said. According to the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, Senate Bill 939 will allow prosecutors to file multiple charges during a single trial against defendants who have committed human trafficking-related offenses across the state of California. “SB 939 will be a tremendous asset to prosecutors statewide and make it easier and more efficient to prosecute these types of cases,” Riverside County District Attorney Paul Zellerbach said.

Staten Island district attorney's office looking for young people to produce videos

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- District Attorney Daniel Donovan is looking for young people to join his "Venture Crew." Members of the Office of the Richmond County District Attorney Venture Crew will be trained on how to produce professional videos by Andrew Scudera, director of the district attorney's Video/Photo Unit. They also will be trained at Community TV on how to use the studio cameras and control room equipment.
