APA and BJA Release Latest Edition of Lex Quod Ordo Newsletter
Welcome to the latest edition of Lex Quod Ordo (Law and Order), APA’s quarterly newsletter dedicated to high performance prosecution. This fall has been a busy and productive time at APA, and we look forward to sharing with you our recent projects and successes. Most recently, APA, in partnership with the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) and the Center for Court Innovation (CCI), hosted the 9th National Prosecution Summit in Dallas, Texas on September 22- 24.

The Association of Prosecuting Attorneys has published a framework for the “high performance” prosecutor that includes “integrating the progression of forensic science and technology into criminal investigations and trial courtrooms.

District Attorney Beefs Up Domestic Violence Team
For 16 years, Criminal Court Judge J. Randall Wyatt watched court officer Tim Dickerson defuse tense situations in the courtroom.

"He can take care of himself very well and causes people that he's around to feel like he's taking care of them, too," Wyatt said.

That's why Wyatt thinks Dickerson is perfect for his new assignment supporting the prosecution of domestic violence cases. Hiring Dickerson and another court officer, Terry Faimon, are part of District Attorney General Glenn Funk's drive to bolster prosecution of domestic violence cases.

Wisconsin Preps For Surge In DNA Tests When New Law Kicks In
Madison — The state Department of Justice has hired nearly 20 more workers and begun a pricey renovation of its Madison crime lab so that it will be able to handle tens of thousands of additional DNA samples when new collection requirements take effect next year.

Wisconsin currently takes DNA samples from anyone convicted of a felony and certain sex-related misdemeanors. A Republican-backed law set to take effect April 1 dramatically expands the grounds for collection.

Nassau County New York DA Hires Labrador Retreiver To Help With Child Sex Abuse Cases
MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – A new and special staffer has joined the Nassau County district attorney’s office.

Nassau County prosecutor Amanda Burke has the difficult job of investigating child sex abuse cases, but a new member of the staff has made it easier for children to open up.
